About Alberto

Alberto Perez is a first-generation American, born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, on the southern border with Mexico. His bilingual, bicultural, and athletic skills have allowed him to be able to navigate different meetings, conferences, and events in the US and Mexico.  In his formative years, Alberto learned the value of hard work from his parents and grandparents on both sides of the border.

At The University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College (UTB-TSC), he was a member of the Mariachi Escorpión where he performed along with his classmates throughout the region in different cultural and international events such as the Mr. Amigo/Charro Days celebrations; he was also the President of the Student Government Association where, he not only attended international and cultural events, he also discussed matters of international relations with the then President of Mexico, he promoted programs that benefitted students at the university, and he also forged alliances with other universities to work for the development of resources for those that were in need.

All of this has given him a unique perspective on Interpersonal, Intercultural, and International relations.

In 2002, Alberto moved to Dallas with the hopes of advancing his career, and he has lived in the Dallas area now for over 15 years. Sports have always been an important part of his life and continue to do so.  Since becoming a teacher in 2005, he has worked since then in several school districts, chief amongst them, Dallas and Garland ISDs.  In his time as a professional educator, Alberto has also concurrently coached high school and club soccer, and he continues to give back to his community as a current US Soccer Federation referee in his 19th year!

Alberto recognizes that Dallas is one of the major economic, political, and financial hubs in the US, and he hopes to use his formal education in business (Bachelor and Master degrees in Marketing and Management, respectively), his experience as a professional educator, and his language and cultural skills to work For A Stronger Dallas County.

Alberto is married, has three children, and attends Central Park Church in Garland.
